Goat's Milk Skincare Benefits
Is the idea of soaking in a bath of goat’s milk all washed up? Hardly!
Legend tells us that Egyptian beauty Cleopatra enjoyed washing herself daily in a bath consisting of goat’s milk. Cleopatra was known for her luminous, silky-soft skin and irresistible allure among the men of her day. But you don’t have to be a Queen to reap the benefits of a goat’s milk bath. The Soap Opera Company now carries a full line of goat’s milk skincare products!
So why was bathing in goat’s milk so important to Cleopatra? Well, she may not have commissioned any scientific studies but nowadays more and more people are finding that using goat’s milk skincare products help to soothe and manage itchy uncomfortable skin conditions often within just a few applications! This is because goat’s milk has a pH balance that closely resembles that of healthy human skin. Ideal pH is about 5.5, which is slightly acidic. Our skin needs to be slightly acidic in order to fight off and control the growth of bacteria. If the skin is too acidic it can become dry and irritated, resulting in cracks around the corners of the mouth, hives, weak thin nails and a pale complexion. If the skin is too alkaline it can’t fight off bacteria very well, which can result in conditions such as acne, psoriasis and eczema. Making goat’s milk a great addition to your skincare regimen!
Goat’s milk is also rich in several types of fatty acids - capric, caprylic, and capronic acid. These naturally occurring acids are considered good fats. They allow the goat’s milk skincare product to be more easily absorbed and also promote healthy skin and hair. Additionally, the acids in goat’s milk are known to have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.
The natural lactic acid found in goat’s milk acts as an Alpha-Hydroxy Acid. AHA’s work to exfoliate dead skin cells allowing brighter younger-looking skin to shine through. And goat’s milk is rich in Vitamin A, long known as an antioxidant that helps to fight aging and free radical damage from exposure to environmental pollutants.
The beauty industry has really embraced goat’s milk skincare products in recent years, clearly showing that the benefits of goat’s milk are more than a passing trend. At The Soap Opera Company our line of goat’s milk skincare products includes a nourishing body wash, a milled bar soap, a rich hand cream, and soothing body lotion in three yummy scents – Vanilla Bean, Love, and Blue Ridge Wildflower.
