Its Festival Season in Beautiful Bucks County! Come Visit!

Many of our customers order from a distance — online. If you do, thank you for your vote of confidence in The Soap Opera Company products.

Now we’d like to share another idea with you. Have you thought about coming to see our beautiful little Pennsylvania towns, New Hope and Peddler’s Village? Because we’d love to meet you in person.

And did you know about all the wonderful things about to happen here?

This month is the is kickoff of Peddlers Village Festival Season.

People come from all over and stay for a weekend or a week at one of the local B&Bs in our beautiful setting in southeastern Pennsylvania, just across the water from New Jersey.

At the time of this publication there are some outstanding deals at the Golden Plough Inn at Peddler's Village — Route 202 Street Rd, Lahaska — or just a little bit east, at the Clarion Inn.

When in Peddler’s Village at Lahaska, come visit The Soap Opera Company store!

What’s up at the Festivals: May and June 2019?

We start off with the Peddler’s Village 41st Annual Strawberry Festival, held from Saturday May 18 at 10 a.m. until Sunday, May 19 at 6 in the evening.

Enjoy a weekend of strawberries and things with strawberries on top. It’s a great time for everyone, no matter the weather. Bring the kids. There’s plenty of crafts, music, entertainment, and pie!

Our Peddler’s Village shop will be open until 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. Parking is free, and there’s no admission fee for the festival. But if you want all the bells and whistles, the Strawberry Festival Package is for you.

Then, during the June 22-23 weekend, Peddler’s Village will host our annual Art & Wine Festival, shining the spotlight on regional talent and the legendary arts community of Bucks County. We love the festival for all the outdoor art installations, for the painting activities for young and young-at-heart, the strolling entertainers, and the fabulous wine tastings.

Other Cool Things to Do When You’re Here

Come and see all we have to offer. Ride the New Hope & Ivyland train line on a 50-minute trip, on  steam-powered trains. Dating from 1925, this little railroad can take you from New Hope to Lahaska — the homes of both of our stores! See Witch’s Hat Station and take a journey through nine beautiful miles of riverside scenery. The windows are open when our weather gets warm!

And if you’ve visited us before, you’ll love seeing what’s new. Like the Playhouse Deck Restaurant & Bar at the Bucks County Playhouse, at 70 S. Main Street. (Never was funding the arts more delicious than this!) The deck overlooks the confluence of the Aquetong Creek and Delaware River.

Our restaurant scene goes much further, too. It spans the globe: cuisine of the Americas, from Creole to Cuban to Peruvian to vegan; Irish, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Thai, Indian… no shortage of microbreweries here either!

Love nature walks? Don’t miss Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve – where you’ll hear and spot pileated woodpeckers, beautiful, old Pennsylvania trees and orange chanterelles. The kids will enjoy the journey. Nd of course they’ll love the Bucks County Children’s Museum at 500 Union Square. There’s always great stuff to explore there and new things to learn.

Families and couples love the New Hope Boat Rides, too. Drift gently down the Delaware River in a little red, white and blue ferry boat! Get on board at The Landing.

Then visit The Soap Opera Company at 44 S Main Street in New Hope.

Visit Philly says, in this year’s press release:

Every busy town deserves an adorable soap boutique.” That’s us!

Visit Philly gives The Soap Opera Company high praise for having “the prettiest of French-milled and American-made shea butter-based bars” as well as our store-label, scrubs, lotions, bath bombs, shower steamers and shaving sets.

We love that they noticed how most of our products “are sourced from independent, women-owned businesses.”

We Also Recommend…

Grabbing a bite at the expansive Ferry Market and having lunch in their garden seating. And pick up a bag of fair-trade coffee, or some local wine or craft beer right at 32 S. Main Street.

Check out Love Saves the Day at 1 South Main Street. It’s a classic — an offshoot of the original, 1966 East Village shop, where creatives and fashion icons delight in the vintage clothes and music selection.

We’ve only scratched the surface. Most refreshing is the infinite and gorgeous walking space outside. It all blossoms profusely in May and June.

Spring is just such a gorgeous time to visit and there is so much in the area. And people are so happy to get out and walk again! Sheer love of walking is a big reason to make New Hope and Peddler’s Village your spring and summer destination.
